I have my ‘82 GTV6 in the shop with the Alfa expert. It’s been suffering from an undiagnosable malady and I suspect the bill for this one is going to push me over the edge.
Basically it’s dying after several miles of flawless running. It sort of feels like vapor lock, but it always grumbles back to life, even without a rest stop.
My mechanic has no idea so he’s just running through multiple tests that focus on fuel and fire. He’s going to call me once I hit $500.
ANYWAY, I I’ve realized that I’m not a point in my life where a ratio of 100:1 of garage time vs seat time is acceptable. I have kids, I have music, I have other things I’d rather do. I’d rather get back into auto-x.
So I think I might try to sell the Alfa once it gets back home and look for something Japanese. Maybe something I could use every day. I’d kill for another Integra GSR (I miss my ‘94 every single day). Maybe a WRX wagon. Can’t really do a Miata or MR2 unless I manage to sell the Alfa for enough that I could buy it with whatever I make from that sale and not a penny more. I think $6,000 would be optimistic for the Alfa.
Bottom line, the Alfa is too hard for me. I’m too frustrated with it. It’s not as much fun as it was. I want something that I can drive. It needs either an older owner who has all the time in the world, or a younger owner with no overwhelming commitments.
So if you’re interested, let me know. It’s a really solid car, as GTV6's go. I’m in Austin but I can help arrange transport. I’ll also post on the Alfa BB.

There’s only so much passion and character a guy can tolerate...
